Discover Frankfurt
The city centre is a low-emission zone (Umweltzone): every car, foreign-registered ones included, must display the green emissions sticker. On a free day, the Taunus roads up to the Großer Feldberg start half an hour from the centre, the Rheingau vineyards and the castles of the Middle Rhine are about an hour away, and the Bergstraße leads south to Heidelberg; further afield, the Moselle valley between Cochem and Bernkastel-Kues is a full day well spent in an RS6 or a 911.
Demand rises during the big fairs at the Messe, above all the Frankfurt Book Fair in October, and on Ironman day in late June or early July many roads in and around the city are closed: if your dates are fixed, book early to secure the model you want.
