Many villas are reached by narrow or unmade roads, so an SUV or a not-too-wide convertible is often the easiest choice for the run to and from Pampelonne. For real driving, head up to Gassin and Ramatuelle, or cross the Massif des Maures towards Collobrières, where the roads stay quiet even in August.
