About this car in Milan
The DB12 S is not a city car and pretending otherwise would waste it. Its two seats, 206 litres of boot and 700 hp are built for the road that starts once Milan ends: the SS36 towards Lecco, the eastern shore of Lake Como, the climbs above Bellagio, or the twenty minutes of motorway that take you to Monza.
What it does do well in town is arrive. It is a grand tourer, so the suspension survives Milanese cobbles and speed bumps, and 325 km/h of top speed matters less here than the fact that it is comfortable at 30 km/h in traffic on Corso Venezia.
Pack for two: a weekend bag each is the realistic load. We agree the handover point and the timing with you in advance.
- 700 hp V8, 325 km/h, two seats — a weekend GT, not a city runabout
- Lake Como roads about an hour from Milan

Drives from Milan, the best months and when to book
Suited to this car
- Lake Como (about 50 km from Milan): From Como along the western shore to Cernobbio, Tremezzo and Menaggio, then the car ferry across to Bellagio or Varenna.
- St. Moritz over the Maloja pass (about 180 km from Milan): Via Chiavenna and the Maloja hairpins, open all year, to the Engadine lakes; in Switzerland the motorway vignette is only needed if you use the motorway.
- The Stelvio pass (about 220 km from Milan): Up the Valtellina to Bormio and the hairpins of the Stelvio, at 2,757 metres: the pass is open only from late spring to autumn.
Best months for this car
In Milan the tarmac is rarely warm and dry: the most suitable months are February–November. In December–January cold tarmac reduces the grip of performance tyres: drive with a margin.
