About this car in Florence
The Chiantigiana is a road to take slowly, which is exactly why the Targa works on it. Leaving Florence on the SR222, the panel above your head comes off and the car becomes something between a coupé and a convertible: open to the smell of the vineyards around Greve, Panzano and Castellina, but quieter at speed than a fabric hood and with the familiar 911 roofline intact.
The black Targa 4S has a 480 hp 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six, all-wheel drive and the PDK gearbox, with 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. All-wheel drive earns its place on the Chianti roads, which can be wet and leafy in October and November, and the car runs on winter tyres in the cold season. It has two seats. From Castellina it is a short continuation to Siena: park outside the walls, because the old town is a limited traffic zone, and walk to Piazza del Campo. If you are going on 2 July or 16 August, the Palio days, expect Siena to be full and plan accordingly.
Florence's own centre inside the viali is a camera-controlled ZTL. A hotel inside it can register the plate for access to its garage; otherwise the car is handed over at Firenze Peretola, Santa Maria Novella or Pisa Galileo Galilei. Delivery is arranged with your booking.
