About this car in Vienna
Of the performance cars you can take into Vienna's old centre, the M2 is one of the easiest: short, narrow enough for the lanes behind the Graben, and with four seats for an evening at the State Opera. Weekday parking anywhere in the city is time-limited, so plan on a garage for long stays and use the Handyparken app for short stops.
Burgenland is the M2's escape route. The A4 leaves the city towards Lake Neusiedl, the reed-fringed steppe lake shared with Hungary, and the country roads through Rust and Podersdorf are quiet outside the summer weekends. Austria limits motorways to 130 km/h and other roads to 100, so the 460 hp twin-turbo six and rear-wheel drive are about the way the car turns and responds, not the 250 km/h limiter. Closer still, the Höhenstraße winds up to the Kahlenberg.
Rear-wheel drive is at its best from spring to autumn. The car has winter tyres fitted in the cold season, which Austrian law requires from 1 November to 15 April on wintry roads, but for the Semmering in snow an all-wheel-drive model is the wiser choice. Three medium suitcases and a small one fit in the boot. We deliver to Wien-Schwechat, Wien Hauptbahnhof or your hotel, with insurance and 24/7 assistance included.

Drives from Vienna, the best months and when to book

- The Semmering and the Rax (about 95 km from Vienna): The S6 to the Semmering, with its UNESCO railway, and on to the foot of the Rax and Schneeberg; in winter, winter tyres are needed.
- The Höhenstraße and Kahlenberg (about 15 km from Vienna): The Vienna Woods scenic road climbing through forest and the Grinzing vineyards to the Kahlenberg, with views over Vienna and the Danube.
Best months for this car
For a sports car in Vienna the best months are April, July–August and October: warm, dry tarmac, highs of 16–28 °C and no more than 6 rainy days a month. In December–February cold tarmac reduces the grip of performance tyres: drive with a margin.
