The car
BMW X6 M Competition: a 625 hp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, automatic gearbox, 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and a 290 km/h top speed, in the coupé SUV that invented the category. Five seats and the sloping roofline that tells it apart from the X5 from a hundred metres.
People choose it for the image: arriving at an event, a dinner or a hotel in a car that gets noticed, yet one that can take four people to the mountains the next day. The Competition version adds the exhaust sound and the black details customers ask for.
