There are no roads in historic Venice. Cars stop at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto, or stay on the mainland at Mestre, so that is where the handover happens, unless you would rather collect the car at Marco Polo or Treviso Canova airport on arrival. From there the question is not how the car looks outside your hotel, but how it suits the road ahead.

Northbound, towards Cortina, the Civetta or Val di Fassa, the boot decides. The blue Urus S and the matte Nero Nemesis Pearl Capsule carry 616 litres, enough for five people's skis, boots and a week of luggage; the other two Urus S versions and the white SE take 454, the Verde Mantis SE 500. All six are four-wheel drive, and from 15 November to 15 April signed mountain roads require winter tyres or chains, so tell us your dates and we will arrange the right set.
Eastbound the SE hybrids make more sense. The causeway into Grado, the pine-lined streets of Lignano and the Karst villages above Trieste are small places where pulling away on electric power is simply more pleasant, and the 800 hp only matters once you reach the motorway. The Verde Mantis looks at home among the Karst vineyards. For an evening at the Casino on the Grand Canal, the black 666 hp Urus S waits at Piazzale Roma while a water taxi covers the last stretch.

- There are no roads in historic Venice: cars stop at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto, where the multi-storey car parks are, or stay on the mainland in Mestre. Handover is arranged at one of these points.
- Most historic centres are ZTL limited-traffic zones watched by cameras: driving in without a permit means a fine that arrives weeks later. Give us the address and we will confirm where the car can reach.
- Speed limits: 130 km/h on motorways (110 in rain), 110 on dual carriageways, 90 on other roads outside towns, 50 in town.
- Motorways are tolled at barriers (cards and cash; Telepass lanes are for devices only). Outside built-up areas dipped headlights are compulsory by day too.
- From 15 November to 15 April, signed roads require winter tyres or chains on board — this covers most Alpine and Apennine roads.
