Beyond Ronda the Sierra de Grazalema is one of the finest landscapes in Andalusia: the Puerto de las Palomas climbs between Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra, with the turquoise reservoir below. It is a long day, around 110 km each way, and the Defender's 250 hp diesel six covers it in comfort, with plenty of torque on the climbs and the 188 km/h top speed irrelevant on Spanish roads limited to 120 on motorways and 90 elsewhere.
