Audi's quattro range covers almost every Veneto plan, and every car on this page is four-wheel drive. Because historic Venice has no roads, we meet you on the mainland side: Marco Polo airport, Treviso Canova, Mestre station or Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto, where the car can stay parked while you are out on the lagoon.

Which Audi to choose in Venice

The Audi cars that best suit the roads and weather in Venice, each with the reason why.

Discover Venice

The R8 Spyder Performance is the open-air choice for the Prosecco wine road between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a two-seater with a V10 behind your shoulders. The RS3 Sportback, including the numbered Performance 1/300, is compact enough for the narrow lanes of the Euganean Hills around Arquà Petrarca, while the RS6 Avant and RS6 GT carry four adults and luggage at motorway pace towards Trieste and Miramare Castle.

Families and ski groups should look at the SQ7, with seven seats, or the RS Q8 and Q8 50 TDI for the drive up the Piave valley to Cortina. From mid-November to mid-April they wear winter tyres. Insurance and round-the-clock assistance are included, and the model you book is the model you drive.

Good to know

Driving a luxury car in Venice: what to know

  • There are no roads in historic Venice: cars stop at Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto, where the multi-storey car parks are, or stay on the mainland in Mestre. Handover is arranged at one of these points.
  • Most historic centres are ZTL limited-traffic zones watched by cameras: driving in without a permit means a fine that arrives weeks later. Give us the address and we will confirm where the car can reach.
  • Speed limits: 130 km/h on motorways (110 in rain), 110 on dual carriageways, 90 on other roads outside towns, 50 in town.
  • Motorways are tolled at barriers (cards and cash; Telepass lanes are for devices only). Outside built-up areas dipped headlights are compulsory by day too.
  • From 15 November to 15 April, signed roads require winter tyres or chains on board — this covers most Alpine and Apennine roads.

Information checked in September 2026. Local rules change: always follow the road signs.
